Last train to San Fernando - Johnny Duncan and the Bluegrass boys

Label: Columbia
Composers:Padmore - Devere

Reached #2 in UK in 1957

This is a different Johnny Duncan from the well known country singer.
Johnny Duncan was an American living in Britain and was married to an English woman.
The number is bluegrass/skiffle with more than a hint of its calypso origin, and was
based on the Duke of Iron's calypso from 1950.The San Fernando in the original was
the city in Trinidad.

Guitar and bass (repeat X 6 slow then speeding up to full tempo.):
|3-0-1-2-|

Last train to San Fernando, last train to San Fernando
If you miss this one, you'll never get another one
Biddy diddy bum bum to San Fernando.

#1:

Last night I met my sweet Dorothy
She said, tomorrow I join in sweet matrimony
But if you act alright
Oh, you can take me out tonight
We can wine and dine and get back in time
For the last train to San Fernando.

Last train to San Fernando, last train to San Fernando
If you miss this one, you'll never get another one
Biddy diddy bum bum to San Fernando.

Instrumental (follows the chorus structure):

Last train to San Fernando, last train to San Fernando
If you miss this one, you'll never get another one
Biddy diddy bum bum to San Fernando.

#2

Well, I marry'n into high society
Be careful of the places you're a-takin' me
'Cause if you slip, I'll slide and I may never be a bride
Biddy diddy bum bum to San Fernando.

Last train to San Fernando, last train to San Fernando
If you miss this one, you'll never get another one
Biddy diddy bum bum to San Fernando.

Last train (to San Fernando)
Last train (to San Fernando)
Last train (to San Fernando)

Last train (to San Fernando...)

(Instrumental):

 ( ) X6 arpeggio

The intro riff is repeated six times starting in tempo
then slowing down . The guitar plays full chords
